I just noticed my 22 month-old son's front teeth are discolored. Not brown or yellow, but a gray color.
I googled the possible causes and it mentioned vitamins with iron. We just started giving him the liquid poly-vi-sol (which is horrible tasting, btw) in his morning juice. I'm wondering if this is the cause?
If you've experienced this, how can I get his teeth white again? Should I stop using the poly-vi-sol? If I switch him to Flintstones chewables, would they also stain his teeth?
Bizarre!
Re: Front teeth discolored from vitamins????
Kiddo has gray spots too - and we've never done iron drops (he does take gummy multi-vitamins now).
We just had our first dentist visit and she said it would come off with a cleaning (which they don't typically do until closer to 3 at this practice). She said it was just cosmetic and not anything to worry about in terms of tooth health. Using regular toothpaste might also help remove them over time as it is more abrasive than the training toothpaste or just a toothbrush.

The kid I watch has this from Iron in his iron supplements and his dentist said it was completely normal.
I would not however use adult toothpaste as it has fluoride and it's not good for the babies.
