Anyone hear about this? Yesterday, at my first official appt. at the birth center, our midwife talked to us about Juice Plus. https://www.juiceplus.com/nsa/content/Welcome.soa
I have no objections to taking it -- sounds great! My hesitation lies in that they recommend it as a prenatal vitamin ... not taking anything else. Curious to see if any body else had done this. Thanks!
Re: Juice Plus as prenatal?
I didn't check it out, but as long as it has enough folic acid, iron, and vitamins to meet your needs, it is probably fine to use as a prenantal vitamin.
In general, the food-based vitamins are much more effective.
The only thing I am leery about is if people push things like this because they get some sort of a commission. (Not saying that is your situation, just venting in general.)
I'm usually a lurker...but, I've taken Juice Plus for like 12 yrs. I've always taken it in conjunction with other things. So, during my pregnancy, I've taken it (the 2 fruits and 2 veggies) along with a prenatal, DHA, probiotic, and extra Vit D, C, and Zinc and a prescription Folic Acid. I would definitely be sure you're getting extra folic acid in addition to the Juice Plus.
From what I know about it, you can't overdo the Juice Plus. Because your body recognizes it as food, it will use what it needs and discard the rest. If you can afford it, I would definitely add it in...it's full of all of the phytonutrients/antioxidants that many vitamins lack.
Hope this helps!
