I went through elementary & high school with a guy named Witold. He was from Poland and he pronounced it "Vee-tol". Eventually he started to go by a pronunciation that sounded more like "Vito" and THEN he started to go by "Vitek" (Vee-tech) I'm not sure why he changed it up so much, but initially he was "Vee-tol".
I'm not sure about any differences between German and Polish pronunciation though.
It also means "a man who's okay with the fact that his wife is cheating on him'. I don't know that everyone would know that, but it might be worth thinking about.

Say what?

A resigned cuckold? Really?
Annoyingly, I got Witold's vm yesterday and he doesn't state his own name in his outgoing message. So the mystery remains until he calls me back...
