Since we have almost hit the 3 month mark, its time to consider which place ... reviews online are all over the place, so I figured I'd see if anyone local has experiences to share. We are still waiting on if insurance covers anything at either place, but I have a feeling, we will end up paying out of pocket for this.

Re: Cranial Tech vs Hanger
I can't say enough good things about Cranial Tech. Everything the told me at our initial appointment turned out to be accurate. We mostly saw Amber and at times I felt she was a little dramatic but in the end I think she truly had our son's best interest at heart and we got great results. Her daughter also wore a DOC Band. DS wore 2 DOC Bands from about 4 1/2 months to about 10-11 months for severe plagio. From what I understand the DOC Bands are lighter and less bulky than the Hanger helmets. Kids can get really hot and sweaty especially in the summer so I appreciated having something more light weight.
Have you been on the yahoo plagio board, it is a great resource?

Good luck with everything and let me know if you have any questions!
We loved Cranial Tech! We went to the offices in San Diego and Dallas. The DOC Band is very light and my son could still roll around, do tummy time and sleep as he did before he wore the DOC Band. The only downside was trying to get it on and off by myself while my husband was at work. I would ask for a discount if your insurance doesn't pay for it.. its 3800 hundred up front, you can do 3 payment plans of 950 or you can pay in full on your first apt and you get a discount for that i'm not sure how much.. you also get a military discount

We went with Cranial Tech for the reasons that a PP mentioned: the size and shape of the band. It just seemed to be the most comfortable, and CT seemed to be the most technologically advanced company. It wasn't covered by our insurance, but we are a military family so from the original cost of $3800 they applied the military discount and it went down to $2500. Then we paid everything up front, and it went down to $2200.
DS was supposed to get fitted for his band today but he has a nasty cold and is running a fever, so I rescheduled for tomorrow. GL with your decision!
TwinMama83... If you are going to Cranial Tech in San Diego make sure you see Kelly. We had her for every apointment, she is so wonderful and sweet with my DS when we went there!
