This was posted on my due date board. Quite a story! Linky
Basically, she had her daughter when she was 13. And now the daughter is married and a mother of a 2 year old, at age 13.
I guess in their culture this is not unusual. However, I was kinda thinking
.
Re: RP: Grandma at 23
That's crazy.
Also, WTF? "Ion is a good boy ? and he is already engaged to a girl aged 8."

I couldn't tell from the article if they lived in Romania or if they were in the US. Here in Tacoma we have a large population of Romainian gypsy's and let me tell you that sort of thing is happening everyday. Just recently I was getting my hair done at the same time as a girl who could not have been more than 15 or 16 she was "married" and said she had been for 3 years. She had a little boy who was almost 2 and was 7 months pregnant. It is part of their culture but that doesn't make it right. It's actually very sad none these kids go to school, and the man/boys spend their days trying to make money by knocking on people's doors asking to fix cars, mow lawns etc.
Oh and an extra fun fact about the pregnant girl at the salon she was having her hair bleached almost white and went out for no less than 4 cigs. in a 2 hour time period.

I know it's hard for us to imagine but the body is ready for babies when menstration starts...culturally we wouldn't condone a 13 year old mom but in many cultures it is the norm. I imagine (but dont' know for sure) that when you put a 13 year old Romania girl and a 13 year old American girl in the same room, they're very very different maturity wise.
But it's still very difficult for us to understand.
Wow...
I thought 16 and pregnant was hard to watch because these girls are too young at 16 to be mommas.
But 11?
I just pray she has a high maturity level to raise that baby!
I was thinking this too, that there are probably big differences. Also, if their culture is anything like many Asian cultures, the mother is usually not the first and only caretaker for a baby. My older sisters were born in Korea and after their births they were really cared for more by grandmas, aunts, even housekeepers. When my mother moved to America and had me, she was literally at a loss as to what to do with me because she'd never had to care for a newborn all by herself.
