Trouble TTC

Intro and looking for advice

Hi ladies,

 DH and I have been trying for about a year and a half now for #2. We had a miscarriage a year ago. Since it's been a year since the mc, my OB agreed to start tests. DH had his first SA on Friday and we got the results back today. 3% morphology and "low" motility. She didn't give me the numbers, and I didn't think to ask until we hung up. I'm frantically reading around online and it sounds like IUI is what is done in many cases from here? After our repeat SA in two weeks, we will meet with an RE, but any advice or thoughts from here would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck to all of you!

    Hello and welcome.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  I don't have any advice because we don't have any MFI, but I know there are quite a few ladies here who do and can speak to that.  {{{hugs}}}

  • Welcome to the board!  DH and I have experienced MF also.  DH started with just 4% morphology.  Of what I have heard, the motility can change but the morphology doesn't really in between SA.  Before going into IUI or IVF, I would have your DH talk to a urologist.  My DH did and got diagnosed with varicocele.  He had surgery this past September and his morphology jumped up into normal range.  The surgery has no guarantees to fix MF but there is a chance.  It is something to look into before going through other procedures.  I would definitely keep your RE and get their opinion as well but usually RE's just work with the female and not so much with the male.  Good luck with everything!

  • Hi and welcome.  Why are they doing a 2nd SA so close together?  I wouldn't expect any change so quickly, b/c it take upwards of 70+ days for sperm to mature.  Did they think something was limiting it? GL

  • Welcome!  I'm so sorry for your loss.  DH and I also have MFI, we have done a couple IUIs and are now moving onto IVF w/ICSI as this is our best shot at having a baby.  The ICSI part of IVF takes the male issue out of the equation.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!  Everyone is very helpful on this board!!!  GL!
