Hi, I'm Luna. I'm currently a SAHW, but I've been on the job hunt since late last year. My husband is AD USMC and we live in California, Camp Pendleton to be exact. We just found out (last week) that we are expecting our first child.
Now for the question. This is really for the Camp Pendleton moms. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in the area? For those of you that went through the naval hospital on base, how did you like it and the doctors?
I'm trying to weigh my options right now. I have Tricare Standard and Extra, so I can go off base if I choose to do so. I would really like some opinions though. Thank you for the help!
Re: Intro and a question for Camp Pendleton moms
DD was assigned a PCM at the naval hospital's satellite clinic in Oceanside because the hospital pediatric clinic was full. After one appointment, we high tailed it to the Tricare office and requested a referral to a civilian doctor. I was truly disturbed by the doctor's lack of pediatric knowledge.
She is now seen at Pediatric Medical Associates in Vista. They have urgent care/sick hours 7 days a week and other than routine well-baby appointments, we have never had to wait for her to be seen.
I was not pregnant when I was out there but I always went to the Dr on base and my friend had her baby at the Naval hospital and had no problems at all. The Dr's were all great and all the COMPLAINING from other spouses she heard about the NAVAL hospital and the Dr's there she jut realized was a LOAD OF CR$#.
At the Naval hospital you wont have co pays as oppose to going off base you might.
If I lived in Pendleton still that is were I would be going.

She's on Tricare Standard so she can only be seen at the hospital if they have space.
