I just received my divorce decree!!! I'm officially single! I feel such a huge weight lifted! All in all the judgement wasn't too bad.
I got sole legal and physical custody of DD and Ex-H (Yay!) has 2 hours of supervised visitation every week that he has to pay for (if he ever decides to see DD; he hasn't seen her since Sept.). I was awarded no child support and I have to pay spousal maintenance for 8 months (Boo, I know he doesn't have a job, but I wish he was still held somewhat responsible financially for DD; oh well, can't win them all). Now I just have to wait for Ex-H to file his appeal (in court he said he would appeal the ruling no matter what judgement was issued). I'm just so excited to be free (I know that I'll always be tied to him because we have a child together, but I still feel so free)!
Re: It's official!
Wait, how on earth did that happen? Even an unemployed non-custodial parent is usually assigned a minimum amount of CS. I think here in MA it's like $75 or something.
Overall, congrats
I know, I know. My thoughts exactly especially since he does get a check from the government every month related to his time in the service (not much, but still a few hundred a month and he lives with his mom so it's not like he has living expenses). I figure I'll just ask for a modification in 2 years (assuming he's found a job by then). I'm really fortunate that I have a job that allows me to support me and my DD so that I don't have to rely on XH, but it would have been nice to put the CS into a college fund for DD and acutally make XH be responsible in some way. Oh well.
Congrats on finally being free
But like the PP, I'm curious as to why you won't be receiving any CS...
Congrats on having everything be official now!
Like pp said, I'm shocked your XH doesn't have to pay child support. I know here in MI even if you're unemployed, you still have to pay.
