new cloth diaper user

So I ran my first load of used cloth diapers (prefolds, some all in ones, fitteds), and after cleaning, they smelled fine but still had discolorations from the poop/pee...is this normal?? any advice on how to clean them better? i have high efficiency washer/dryer and I did a cold rinse first without detergent, then warm/cold rinse with 1 tbs of my diaper detergent.

If they smell clean and you feel they had a good wash the color could just be staining. I've never had a pee stain, but we've had poo stains and I just take the wet diaper and put it out in the sun. The sun works wonders for stains!

Even in the dead of winter, the sun can do wonders for stains.

thanks for the advice....i think it was more poop than pee..although her poop is, of course, mustard color so it was kind of hard to tell! I'll have to hang a line outside...

Rinse or wash?

You should be doing cold rinse, hot wash with detergent, cold rinse, cold rinse.
