Hi all, i'm feeling so conflicted at the moment and can use some advice. I had a d and c on january 27th. bled for 3 weeks and my period has arrived today. I'm so anxious to get pregnant. here is the problem the specialist said wait 2 months or 2 cycles before I can get pregnant again. I want to try after this period. Any suggestions on the subject? did anyone have any problems waiting 7 weeks after d and c. I'm adding in the weeks because im on my cycle now. so confused.

Im sorry I dont have any more helpful advice and Im sorry for your loss, But my suggestion would be to follow what the Doc said. and wait (as hard as that may sound, I cant imagine) Maybe you would get a little helpful advice on the Preg after loss board? Regardless, I wish you luck!!

I'm sorry for your loss.  I, too, agree that you should follow your doctor's orders.  Mine had me wait three cycles, and while it was hard to do, I am really glad that I did.  That allowed me to build up a quality lining and to allow my body to remove any remaining rough spots, increasing my chances for a successful pregnancy. 

I also recommend you try posting on Trying to Conceive After a Loss.  Lurk for a bit to get a feeling for the board and then introduce yourself.  Though, they will most likely tell you what I just told you.

I agree with the others. You need to do what your doctor says. Your body needs time to heal and your lining may not be at its best if you try again right away. After my first mc my doctor told me to wait till I got a period and then we could try that next cycle. Well, I just don't think my body just wasn't ready and we miscarried again with in the first few weeks.

I felt the same way about wanting to try again after my d & c.  My dr checked my progesterone after the first cycle post d & c to see if I was ovulating and I wasnt.  So the next cycle he gave me clomid and I got pregnant with DD.  I would follow their advice or see if they can do bloodwork like that did on me.  From my experience and from what I have heard your cycles can be really messed up after a m/c.  Good luck!

I felt the same way. My Dr. asked us to wait 3 cycles to be sure all the necessary materials werre built back up and my uterus was ready for another baby.

Even thought you have that longing feeling, give your body and brain a bit of time to heal and cope with the stress. You'll be glad you did.
