Great article! All of the things were so true...especially the "me time". I'm home with DS every day all day (on mat leave) and I love it but if I don't leave the house once a week I go batty.

I read your "home with DS every day all day (on mat leave)" and noticed your little guy was 4 months old. Then I remembered you are in Canada and my jealousy kicked in. I'm working on the paperwork for my DCP so I'll be ready to leave Barrett there after my whole 6 weeks home with him =0(
I know being a single parent must be hard everywhere, but I might be joining you in Canada, Amanda!

Canada is a lovely place - we have poutine, just sayin
I really don't think six weeks is enough and when I found out that's pretty much standard in the states it made me sad. I can see where some might find a year excessive but 6 weeks is just NOT enough. Living off of 55% of my wage isn't easy but somehow i'm doing it! I probably won't take the whole year as i've moved and will be keeping an eye out for new jobs and if one comes up sooner, i'll jump on it!
I hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and enjoy your time with your new man Barrett
Honestly I'm not sure if I'd want a whole year. Even if I could, I'm not really the SAHM kind of person - not that there is anything wrong with SAHMs! But a little more time than 6 weeks would be nice ... maybe like 6 months. At least Canada gives you the option, stupid USA.
Oh, well, guess I've gotta keep my job, though, so 6 weeks it is. But thanks for the well wishes; will be sure to enjoy every second I can at home with B!
