VBAC

symphysis pubic dysfunction and vbacs

anyone have any info on if this will effect the ability to successfully vbac? i just developed this SPD pain over the last 2 days and am pretty sure it's what i have going on and man it hurts! i haven't called my doc's yet just to feel out how this weekend goes (i work tomorrow and sunday night as a nurse so we'll see how i'm feeling after all that walking). i'm wondering if it will make my glowing candidacy for a vbac decrease? i hope not! although i won't be devastated either.

  • I don't know anything about it, but hope it doesn't affect your candidacy. Good Luck and hope you feel better!
  • Thanks, it actually isn't as bad today as it was last night! Although I have two 12 hr shifts to get through this weekend at work that might not feel so peachy! I've been up and down our 3 floor townhouse several times already this AM and not really uncomfortable, so maybe I just got carried away last night! Either way, I'll be sure to chat my OB up in a week and a half at my next appt!

  • I deal with SPD too, and it's well under control mainly through chiropractic care. You MUST see a chiropractor, one who is familiar with this pain.

I had it with my first, and I do not recall any pain in labor. I had c/s for other reasons. And, for this coming birth in a few weeks, I'm not worried at all about SPD affecting the birth.
