High triglycerides?

I went in yesterday for a followup to fluid in my ear and an ear infection. I had low potassium level on Sun when I went so she took my blook to check it again. Today they call me back and tell my that level is ok (low side of normal tho) but my triglyceride level is thru the roof! but can't do anything right now b/c of pregnancy. Everything I've been reading online says in pregnancy during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters your cholesterol level and trig levels rise and then return to normal about 4-6w after delivery. I also had half of a large banana and some juice before even going in and from my understanding you are supposed to fast 12 hours before testing. SO my question is how relieable was this test? I mean I ate and drank before and doing so could raise the numbers and give you an inaccurate result. So should I be worried about this? I am 29w4d.

Re: High triglycerides?

  • yes completely normal. i remember my cholesterol was 220 thats up about 100 points from normal..with my first at around early 20 weeks. cholesterol is a building block material and that is what you are doing...building. as long as it comes back down then i wouldn't be too concerned

  • One thing that you can do is take high grade omega-3 fatty acid. Fish oil naturally lowers high tg's. I would go buy the one at Gnc it seems to be the best one you can get without an RX. Good luck!
