Well, two of the girls names you mentioned are names that we are considering I loved those couple names WAY before they became popular, and they also happen to be classic ones (and family names from my side from generations ago) that have been making their rounds again. I don't want to not choose a name I love just because of the rank on the ssa name list. But it also goes by region...I don't know anyone (or their kids) with the names we are considering even though they are in the top 100 baby names.
My name is a very popular name from my birth year and I don't mind. I don't really bump into anybody with my name anymore, even though I seemed to always have a couple in my classes in school Honestly, the only names I'm tired of hearing/seeing are made up names.
On this board, IRL, whatever. Obviously, the -aydens are a given.
LOL. I mean, really. I actually banged my head against the kitchen counter last week when a friend added yet another casualty to the -ayden catastrophe.
Girl: Addison, Madison, Madeline, anything McK
Boy: Jackson/Jaxon/Jaxson

I am going to admit that DS is named Jack and this thread is hurting my feelings.
Hmm, I guess I'll go put my big girl panties back on.
I like Jack! I more get tired of people asking if it's a good name... of course it's a good name.. it's Jack. No one hates Jack. Scroll down five posts and you'll see that no one hates Jack....
WELL, my boys are Jack and Ethan Funny enough, even though they are very, very high on the SS name list (which I never cared about), we have run into very few other little boys with their names. I really love their names! Naming our baby girl was much harder (we decided on Lauren).
I am going to admit that DS is named Jack and this thread is hurting my feelings.

Having just watched the last season of 24, my feelings for Jack are stronger than ever. I think I will always love the name Jack for a boy. All the good guys in the movies are always named Jack. My BFF named her DS Jack Owen,
I would be so happy if Brielle went away and never came back. Same goes for Brinley, Grayson, Mason, Brayden, Grayden, ect
Girls: If I see Charlotte, Grace, Sophia, Claire, Catherine, Isla, AMELIA, Violet mentioned here....*sigh*...and the resurgence of the "old lady" names irk me.
Boys: Liam (although I like it, it's overdone), Owen, not as many boy names are annoying me than the girl's names.
I was surprised to see Mason. That's what we're naming our DS....I only "know" 2 Mason's (a preacher and the Kardashian baby) so it wasn't that common to me.

You are sweet, and I can't quite pinpoint what is rubbing me the wrong way about this thread. I have heard people say they don't like Jack, and that doesn't bother me- we all have our opinions.
There is just something so dismissive about the "yawn, I'm so over this name" that bugs me.
Sorry, I can't quite put my finger on it. But I absolutely don't mind people not liking my names. This just feels meaner, somehow.
Not taking my ball and going home, just trying to be honest.

I don't see what's mean about it. I have nothing against Jack on its own. It's a great name. No one's saying they don't like it, just that it's overplayed. And it's not the same as saying "I'm tired of seeing the name Jayden," as Jack doesn't fall into the category of trendy the way Jayden does. Its just popular and people tend to grow tired of hearing popular names over and over again. That's all. It's nothing personal against anyone who chooses to name their child that. I certainly wouldn't give you the side-eye for naming your son Jack.
I was surprised to see Amalia above since I don't know a single other one under the age of about 65 besides DD IRL, but hey, whatevs.
I'm mostly over the "safe" Hispanic girl names in my neighborhood- Camila, Isabel and Sofia. There are SO many amazing names for girls in Spanish that sound fantastic in English that it makes me sad to see so many Camilas, Isabels and Sofias running around my playground.
Girls: Charlotte, Clair, Evelyn, Madison, Madeline, Madalyn, Bella, Elizabeth, Caroline, Nevaeh, Kinsley, Kinsey, Kylie, any other similar k name, Mackenzie, Michaela/Makayla, any other Mc name.
Boys: Brayden, Jayden, Caden, Henry, William, Noah, Jackson, Desmond, Max
ETA: Eleanor and other older lady names that a lot of people think are back in when I don't.

DS Elijah Xin 3/11/05
DD Evangeline Mei 8/24/06
Jackson is the big one for me... every time I hear it, it annoys me a little more. And if Brielle shows up one more time on this board, I am going to be really upset.
I can think of other names that come off as a little overdone, but that I still basically like. The names Sophia and Evelyn, for example. I still have to give the parents credit for picking a pretty name, even if they lose a point for originality.
I think I get a little more bored with overdone middle names, like James and Grace. Again, nice enough names, but unless they are family names, they come off as pretty unoriginal.
Grace, Marie, and Claire as middle names. They don't bother me as first names, but I'm so tired of Emma Grace and Anna Claire I could scream. And they always go by both names.
First names: Bella, Kaylen (or Kailyn, Kaylyn, Kalyn, Kaylin), Katelyn (or any of the thousands of other spellings), Kaylee (again with the spellings), Kinley, Kinsley.
Boys:
Aidenbradencadenhadenjaden, Jackson, Carson

"For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me the petition which I asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
Some of the names are ok it's just that I seem to hear them all the time so I've grown tired of them.
Except I dislike 85% of those names. And would throw on the Madison/Kinsey trend for girls. Oh and the phrase "I know this used to be a boy name, but we're thinking of naming a DD this..."
For boys I also hate seeing over and over the name Cooper. Yeah its cute when they're 3 but when he's 21 all I can picture is a dbag frat boy. Or the 90s show "Hangin with Mr Cooper".
Girls - Audrey, Jocelyn, Aubrey, Grace, Avery, Sophia, Maddison/Addyson, Gianna/Arianna/Avianna and definitely any variation on Bree, why name your kid after a cheese!
Boys - Caleb, Noah, Hunter, Tanner, Connor, Joshua, Landon, Brody/Brady, Mason, Chase, Cooper
Girls: Aubrey, Grace, Avery, anything with a Maddie derivative, anything with an Addy derivative, anything with an Ellie derivative, Layla/Lila/Lily, Charlotte, Brynn, Brielle, Kinley/Kinsley/Kenley/Kenzie, Mc-names, Hadley, Isla, Olivia, Riley, Violet
Oh for the love of god, Jack. And Max. And anything with Aiden/Aydan/Aidyn in it. And Grace as a middle name. Gah.
We personally know five Jacks. When we're going to play, I have to go through "No, not that Jack, the other Jack." with DD like a thousand times. She literally thinks all boys her age are Jack.

Isabella, Evelyn, Amelia, Addison, Mck-anything, Jaxon, Peyton, Leila/Layla/Lilah, Mason, Grayson, Makayla.. I think pretty much sums it up for me!! The other's haven't worn me too much just yet. (;

I'm still new to this board, but IRL I'm tired of...
Girls: Lily, Grace, Ella, Abigail/Abby, Isabelle/Isabella, Brianna, Addison
Boys: Jackson/Jack, Mason, Vincent/Vince (I've known a TON of people who have named their baby boys Vincent within the past year)
My name is a very popular name from my birth year and I don't mind. I don't really bump into anybody with my name anymore, even though I seemed to always have a couple in my classes in school

Boys: Owen
All of this, plus any name that results in the nickname Maddie. Also Charlotte, and anything with a Mc.
