I know this board gave mixed reviews but we ended up naming our daughter:

Mary Jane Kendall.

Mary Jane is listed as her first name. It's after my husband's late mother. Initially I loved the spirit of the name but was unsure about actually using it.

Our daughter is adopted and we had little notice so I didn't have much time to discuss or debate.... and I am so happy I didn't over think it. MJ is perfect for her.

PS- Kendall is my maiden name so we didn't necessarily choose it based on flow, etc.

Congrats! She is a beauty and I am sure she will love being little MJ as she grows up. She can always shorten it to Mary or Jane if she prefers but both are great classic names. Yes the pop culture reference of the name combo isn't ideal but it has family meaning and that is what is important especially as you bring a new little one into your lives. Enjoy being a new momma!

Congratulations on Mary Jane! How wonderful for you guys. I am glad you went with Mary Jane too! We just had a little girl (haven't updated my ticker yet), and we named her Kathleen after my late mother-in-law. I felt the same as you -- loved the idea of the name, but wasn't sure about the name itself. I am so happy we followed our gut and went with Kathleen.
