Meaning do they think that Mickey Mouse, Special Agent Oso, Dora, etc are real. How old is your child and if they know TV is not real when do you think they realized it? I really do not think I ever thought it was real but I am 99.9% sure DS still does at 4. I am assuming it is normal but just curious about other kids.

Re: Does your child believe their TV shows are real?
Well my son is younger than yours and he definitely thinks they are real. He will be 3 in June.
Last night we were driving and he told me to make the car jump. I told him that cars can't jump and he said, "The Umi car jumps!"
It probably doesn't help that we took him to Sesame Place and he saw all the characters in person, so I'm 100% sure he thinks they are all real.
DS actually points out that IRL, animals don't talk. So yeah, he knows it's not real.
ETA: He's been doing it for about 6 months, so I don't know what he thought before.
My SD who is 8 still thinks that shows are real, but not talking dogs etc. She thinks that Icarly, Shake it up, Etc that those shows are real. She once pulled a trick on her cousins that Carly's friend Sam pulled on the show - (gross.. but garlic powder all over the pillow and what not) - and SD got in HUGE trouble! We made her go up to her cousin's house and clean up the mess and apologize to her aunt! However, we had to explain that pranks she sees on tv are not ok and not real!
