The other day Blake got an infection and had to be reintubated. The doctor said yesterday that everything came back normal on his cultures and his blood work was back to normal as well, so today they are going to stop the antibiotics. He's now up to 4ml of breastmilk every 3 hours as well. I am so glad they caught his infection at the very beginning and that it cleared quickly.
Addison tried herself out on CPAP, we made it a whole 6 hours before she was too exhausted to do much more. And thank heavens they did not have as many problems getting her reintubated. The NEO was pleased with her even though ideally he wanted her to stay on CPAP longer. She is still only getting 1ml of breastmilk every 3 hours. As for her brain bleeds they are level 4...however the NEO said they were changing in resolution (which from what I understand means that they are resolving ever so slightly)...but the head ultrasound does show some damage to one area and a cyst is beginning to form. What this will mean for Addison we don't know at this point.
Our babies just continue to amaze me each and every day. My only issue is that I wish I could hold them a lot more. Some nurses absolutly refuse to let us hold them when they are on the vent even though we've done it previously. I can't stand the thought of not holding my LO's until they are vent free, especially when we don't know how long that will take.
Re: Twin Update...
Twin boys born too early at 17w4d and 18w2d in February 2010
Transabdominal cerclage placed September 2010
DS born at 35w1d in February 2011
Twin girls born at exactly 36w in February 2013
T&P!!
FWIW Andrew had level 2 and 4 brain bleeds and he's 2 yrs old and doing really great! He is only struggling with some minor issues right now - a speech delay and some minor fine/gross motor delays, and reflux, but that's really it. His bleed also self-resolved and he had a cyst remaining. It's hard to take it especially when nobody knows exactly what it means. Hugs!
