Preemies

jteneback

Hi! Just saw your post on the TTC/PG after preemie. I have to LOL, I felt exactly the same way. I had my DD at 34 weeks, and while she had a rough start (vent/CPAP first two days, canula for a few more days, and came home 2 weeks later on an apnea monitor) she made some pretty big leaps and bounds. I've been very lucky with her- so much more could have happened that didn't.

That said, I got a severe case of baby rabies when DD was 6 months old and got pg with my son, who was born FULL TERM (38w3d)! It can happen.

But:

I now run around like a chicken with my head cut off. :-D

I got a better OB (although I question some of his decisions towards the end of my 2nd pg)

I did not have an easy 2nd pregnancy, I was on bedrest the last 5 weeks, had weekly NSTs, horrible migraines, etc. It wasn't easy and I am very glad he is here. It was hard to not be able to play/be with DD the way I wanted to, but yet I am very glad she was too little to really ever remember that time.

And although I want more kids, I am totally waiting at least 2 years before I think about the unprotected dance with the one eyed snake ;-)

Good luck with whatever decisions you make! Feel free to PM me (I am on the preemie palace more than I am here...)

  • Thank you for your thoughts!  I have thought about how hard it would be to be pregnant with a little one to chase.  I'm sure we will wait a little while before we make any decisions.
