Anyone use Similac Sensitive

DS is on Similac Advance Early Shield right now.  He is very gassy and spits up a little after almost every feeding.  Also, he only poops about every other day and it's usually explosive when he does (sorry, TMI!) It seems like he is constantly grunting, straining, and tensing up his little body.  I've tried the gas drops, which help a little.  I'm thinking about switching to Similac Sensitve and was wondering if anyone had similar situations or have had the Sensitive make a difference.  I'm calling the pedi this morning to ask about the switch.

Re: Anyone use Similac Sensitive

  • We've had good luck with Similac Sensitive.  DS is not as gassy.

  • Hi. My son has silent reflux and was a very very gassy baby - also grunting all the time. I decided to switch him to the Similac Sensitive and he is such a happier baby. I also switched his bottles from Avent Drop Ins to Playtex Drop Ins (you might think about the bottles you are using too.) Since the formula and bottle switch the gas has totally disappeared! He now has "normal" baby gas and doesn't strain and grunt anymore either. He is still a once a day, every other day pooper though. I say try the formula, it worked for us. I shoudl add also with similac advance he woudl spit up a lot, but with the sensitive I get no spit up Smile GL!

  • We use similiac sensitive and it works great for us. But the only other other thing we tried was Enfamil Lactofree. DD poops once a day or every other day.
  • We use it as well and it works well for us, DD is alot less gassy. She is on Zantac for silent reflux which I think is what helped the great majority of the fussiness, but a combo of the two has been amazing.

  • My DD is also on similac sensitive and zantac for reflux. The combo has made a huge improvement. With the similac sensitive she has less painful gas and pooping is much easier for her.
  • Thanks for the help.  I'm so glad to hear that it has worked for you.  We are using the Playtex drop ins already, as pp mentioned. I think we'll make the switch!
