Success after IF

BFers-- when did you get AF again?

Just wondering-- I pretty much EBF for 6 months and now we're doing a mix of BF and formula. I hope AF takes her sweet time coming back, and also that she doesn't surprise me at an inconvenient moment.

Re: BFers-- when did you get AF again?

  • I can't remember exactly but I think it was when DD was 1-1/2??

  • Wow...you're lucky!

I EBF'd DD and it came back at about 3 months and I am still EBF DS and it came back at about 4 months this time.

I hope she stays away for you!!!

  • We always did a mix of BF and formula. I got AF about 2 months after we stopped BFing completely (although I may not be the best example since I never got it before pregnancy so the delay may have just been my screwed up body rather than BFing. I then only got it 3 times before getting our surprise BFP and they were very long (50-60 day) cycles).

At nine months.  Sam wasn't eating a ton of solids, and I was pumping three times a day at work and on demand nursing at home.  I was shocked she came back, but it was every 28 days after that until I got pg.  It just varies dramatically from woman to woman, so it could be any time!

  • I am 8 months into BFing and not gotten it back, but she may be trying.

  • With Reed, I didn't get it back.

With Penny I spotted at about 5 months when I was in the hospital with my Mom.  I was away from Penny most of the day, and STRESSED.  I started spotting when she was about 10 months.  I haven't had a real AF without the pill.

So how is that for the most unhelpful answer ever?  Sorry.  I have PCOS and I guess I am unpredictable:)

  • Right around 5 and a half months post-partum is when I got her back, despite EBFing. I got my second one a month and a half after that.

And she's really still not eating any solids, so I was shocked!

  • Not until 15 months PP for me! I weaned from the pump at work at 13 months and Elizabeth finally started STTN right around the same time. So that kick started my body and AF showed up two months later.

  • I EBF (and pump) and I got my first period at 6 weeks pp.  I was really hoping it would hold off for a while longer.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

  • around 6 months.  still waiting for #2 at 50+ days...
  • 4 1/2 months and regular ever since...and I'm ebf...makes me roll my eyes at not being able to get pg...
  • Both times, it wasn't until a month after I weaned...well actually I never got it after DS, but I got my BFP a month after I weaned, so that is when I would have gotten AF.  With DD, it was almost 28 days exactly from when she last BF'ed until AF arrived.

  • I am no help...   I EBF'd for six months before slowly weaning with a mix of formula...    and I got my 1st PP period at 3 months.    my body REALLY likes to ovulate, apparently.    a lot of good it does me...
