I've never hung out on that board, but it seems like a lot of people have seriously strong opinions on names.  On my due date board, there are always polls and threads about names.  If someone doesn't like a name (happens often), usually the reply is a little more sugar-coated.

In my opinion, whoever subscribes to naming their child based on the lowest common denominator gets what they deserve.  There is a reason I didn't ask opinions in naming MY kid.

None of those names are my style, but the only one that was truly heinous was Kinsley.

I don't post there either, but I also know that they aren't down with the trendy/cutesy names.  However, that does not change the fact that they are all a bunch of b!tches.  Just because you are a regular on a Name Board, does not make you an authoritarian on baby names.

#1 WTH has so much time on their hands that they become a regular on a names board so that they pick apart name choices of others? 

#2 If you don't want negative opinions on your name choices, then don't ask.

I totally agree. They were so harsh! I felt the reaction was unnecessary. I think it's really easy for people to be mean when they can hide behind their keyboard and not actually say those things to someone's face. That's why I stick around these parts and don't post on National boards. LOL!

Exactly!!  I found my home here, and I am happy with ladies who will be honest, but don't have to be mean to do so.

That is one scary board!  And, um did anyone note the one suggestion for naming your daughter 'Kezziah' and calling her 'Kizzy?'  Jr. High boy in me is thinking how every boy is going to tease that girl and call her Jizzy Kizzy.

I agree it's great advice, however, I guess I'm just used to diversity of names in my profession, because I didn't see anything horrible about Kinzlie in any of those examples.  It's NMS, but I could totally see a book by Dr. Kinzlie ____. 

I read the rest of the post though, and saw what Angel was talking about.  That OP turned into a complete train wreck.  I understand getting PO'ed at people being rude, but to my original point, ummm.... you kinda asked for it. 

(PS: my profession involves a bunch of MBAs working with Fortune 500 companies, so I'm not sure their "if you have an unusual name you won't be taken seriously" argument cuts it.  It's not like we're talking about Jazzmyne or Dynamite.)

Oooh, that might be an interesting experiment. We've had a poster or two do that in the past, but it was pretty rare...maybe once or twice.

If it makes anyone feel any better, my name, Angel, is considered a stripper name. It doesn't bother me, and the only time I've seen it suggested was for a boy, in which I screamed 'hallelujah' when I saw it.

I wish I could find the thread from earlier this week when the OP's choices were attacked and she just rised above it...it was pretty awesome, and my new standard.

I'm not saying I don't like the name, or any name in particular. I just think those are good "rules" to think about when naming a child. I'm all for "different" names. I come from a family full of them.

The name board hates mine...I've seen a number of posts saying how awful it is for a girl.  I tend to agree with some things over there (hate Nevaeh, no stupid misspellings, etc.) but sometimes them biatches is rabid!  I like that Angel's always a calm voice of reason.

I don't understand why they hated all of her names. Kinzlie is a stupid one but the others are all pretty normal names. Trendy maybe but even classic names like Claire and Emily are "trendy" since it's a current trend to go back to really classic names. Those girls are bitches apparently. I love how they're like "we all like different names but we are unified in what we hate". The OP and her stupid "my brother did it" was ridiculous. But the "alot" pic was awesome.

Maybe I'm grumpy today, but I didn't think they were that horrible to her until she got crazy.  I don't like trendy names much though [obviously!] so I may have been skewed.  But that chick is off. 

I do wonder where she went to collage though.  I bet they have pretty diplomas.

Kinsley was on our girl list. Really. I love it. We had an African student in a class I took in High School names Kinsley and I have kept it on the list ever since.
