Vaccinations.

I do not want this to separate the board or create drama. I plan to vaccinate DS and we are approaching two months and we will be going in for his vaccinations. My question to mothers who choose to vaccinate-did you go with your pedi's schedule or did you space them out a little?

Re: Vaccinations.

  • I have never understood why this is such a hot topic. Of course everyone has different opinions on it, but everyone has different opinions on everything.

That said, with our first, we did the CDC schedule. I didn't do research, I just did what the pedi told us to. DS was born when she was 2 and she hasn't gotten any shots since then. She will get a few this summer before starting Kindergarten this fall.

With our second, I felt very strongly against all vaccines at the time. He is 3.5 y/o and hasn't had a single shot. I now think he should have a few of the more important ones prior to starting preschool this fall.

With this new LO, we will be doing a few vaccines. Not all. I don't think they are all necessary and will certainly not be doing "bulk" vaccines.

My son is the one who hasn't had a single shot and he is the healthiest one in our family. Not sure that there is a correlation but I do believe that his immune system is stronger since he wasn't bombarded with tons of shots as a baby.

    So there's my two cents.

  • I have done all shots according to what the pedi has said and never had any problems with my kids and will be doing LO the same as I have done with my other 2.  I have always had them give Tylenol to them before the shots and it has helped out with fussiness after the shots.

I feel that the risks of them not having the are alot higher then them having the shots.

    That is my opinion.

  • We've had one shot so far and plan on getting them all, but spacing them out.  Although, that will mean more trips to the pedi (aka more copays), but that is fine by me if he doesn't have to get a million shots at once.  Thinking about how my body reacts to the flu shot only, I don't want to bombard his little system with too much at once.

  • I did all the vaccinations with my other two an will do the same this time. my pedi told me to give my baby some sugar water before coming to the shots appt.

  • We will go by the schedule that the our pedi and CDC suggest.

  • I plan on spacing them out.  I do not want MJ to be given the chicken pox vaccine but DC requires it. A lot of kids are ending up with chicken pox even after the vaccine or needed additional boosters.  I feel that between all the vaccines, antibacterial overload etc is not allowing our bodies immune system to do what it is suppose to.

  • We went with the recommended schedule. Never had one issue. We did a ton of research, and that's what made the most sense to us. Spacing them out hasn't been shown to have any benefit, but does leave the babies open to diseases longer, so it wasn't something we wanted to do.

  • We are using our ped's schedule and DS did great for his 2 month ones. A little tired and fussy, but no bruises, knots or fever.
