Baby Names

Macy

DH is *finally* suggesting some names for baby girl.  Last night he mentioned a few, 2 of which I'm outright vetoing (Wanda and Lenore) but his third suggestion was Macy.  I'm definitely on the fence about it and have my own thoughts, but would love to hear your honest thoughts and opinions on this name.

  • It's okay, I'm just not sure how well it "grows". Seems like a great nickname for a little kid, but not sure about it for an adult.

  • Reminds me of the girl from Teen Mom, although I think she spells it differently.

It wasn't me!  I tried to peek back a few days to see if this had been asked recently but I must have missed that thread.  Crap.

  • Macy Gray (sp?) is incredibly talented, however, I had a dog growing up named Macy so I will forever have that association to it, I like the name, however, NMS.

  • It's ok. It reminds me of Teen Mom, but compared to all the other modern names I see around here, it is not that bad.

If your DH likes old-fashioned names like Lenore and you like the sound of Macy, might you consider Maisie?

  • I like..not love, Macy.  It reminds me of Macy's department store and Macy Grey.

  • I like Macy. It's not on my list, but I think it's cute.

    This.

I've also seen it spelled Macie (in case you don't want to go the department store "Macy" route).

  • It's an alright name. I wouldn't use it personally. If you use it, pair it with something classic like Macy Jane or Macy Charlotte...

  • Not a fan

    Lenore is much nicer

  • Love Macy! DH vetoed it bc of the department store. Our girl name is Carly though so it's along the same lines.

Maisie is actually on our long list of contenders (though currently as a nn for Margaret).

  • It's okay, but it reminds me of Teen Mom, the department store, and the singer.

  • A FB friend, who was a teen mom, named her daughter Maycie...so I don't really have a positive association with it, sorry.  (I do, however, like Maisie as a nn for Margaret, which you said is also on your list.)
