I don't care for this name. I think it's trying to hard to be a virtue name, and the whole thing gives me a Myst feel. Kind of sci-fi/fantasy character.
It sounds like you're searching for a replacement for Brielle because this board doesn't like it. Honestly, you have to take the opinions of others with a grain of salt. It's still your child, and you get to name her.
I don't really care what you name your child, and I could be completely wrong and you're legitimately considering Serena now. And I apologize if I got the wrong impression. But I sincerely hope you're not searching out names to please a group of internet strangers.

No not at all ahha I really liked serena before Brielle even came around. DH came clean a week ago telling me he wasn't sold on Brielle and only liked it bc of how happy I got when he agreed on it. Most of the ladies on here don't like my name choices. I like more trendy/unique names. Most of the women on here like traditional old fashion names. Just not my style. My name is Rayna, and now last name MIller. With such a common last name, I'd like a unique name. Nothing like ella, or abigail.
Now I'm in search of a name that both me and DH LOVE. I don't want him to just agree on the of our child, I want him to love it as much as I do.

Good call. Just wanted to make sure you weren't being too off-put. Good luck with your search! Between the two of you, you'll find a name that really works for your family.
This. It's a great name. If you change the spelling, you change the pronounciation (or will just give your child the non-stop joy of correcting everyone she meets).

I think of Serena Williams.

Thanks Love! I'm just glad he told me early. Imagine if I had a bunch of things with her name on it for the nursery... and THEN he told me.

I just wanted to add that when I see some names ending in INA I want to say them like they rhyme with Vagina. Sarina Vagina. I know, I'm weird

I like Sarina, not Serena. Its also my best friends name so I'm already a fan because of that!
I think the "ah" sound of "Sarina" is much more feminine then the "sir" sound of "Serena".
(I said this on the Aug 2011 boards too)
Yea I've decided I like the "S-ah-reen-a" pronunciation better. If we choose this name it will deff be spelled Sarina.
and I agree Shay about it being more feminine.
it's possibly reminding you of Sabrina?
I like it, I think it's fresh! I'm not one to like different spellings, but I'm attracted to the spelling Sarina for some reason.
This. But I LOVE the Serena spelling over any other.
