Re: How would you spell this name for a boy?

  • I'm a little confused as to what you want the name to be? to me Layton would be pronounced Lay-Ton and Leighton would be pronounced Lee-ton. and the other spelling is just terrible.

  • I wouldn't name a boy this, because Leighton Meester has made this a pretty trendy choice for girls.

But if you're set on it, spell it correctly: Leighton. Everything else looks odd.

Lleyton is the spelling of Lleyton Hewitt who is a pretty famous tennis player.  It is not my favorite, but an option.

  • If you don't know how to spell it, maybe you shouldn't use it.

I agree!  I just don't know that everyone knows how to pronounce it.  Hence Lee-ton.  Just a question.

  • Thanks everyone for all the opinions.  Leighton is my first choice of spelling. Although I probably won't use the name for a boy, I just thought about it and wanted to ask.

  • Please don't use it on a boy...and if you do spell it properly. I dont like it for either personally.

  • I know of two people that recently had babies with this name (Nov & Dec). One had a boy and the other had a girl and both spelled the name Leighton. I like the name but I don't really like it on a boy. It may have originally been a boy name but I think it will soon be dominated by girls.

    Good luck!

I wouldn't saddle a little boy with this name.

Agreed. I know a girl named Leighton pronounced (lay-ton) and its very feminine and nms.

    How about :

    LELAND (Lee-lend)

    Gender: Masculine

    Usage: English

From a surname, originally from an English place name, which meant "fallow land" in Old English. A famous bearer was the politician, businessman and Stanford University founder Leland Stanford (1824-1893).

Just because one person has the name, it does not make it a "real" name.

    Ditto everyone else.
