I'll preface this by saying whenever I make a roast in the crockpot I use baby carrots. Of course I didn't have any baby carrots today, only regular ones.
My confession is that I've never peeled a vegetable in my life. I couldn't even figure out how to use my mom's fancy Pampered Chef peeler so I just used a knife. By the time I got done with those poor carrots they were only 1/4 of their original size. Then I must have used the wrong kind of knife to chop them up because 1/2 of them ended up bouncing on to the floor.
It's a good thing my kids don't like cooked carrots because I maybe got 1 cup of chopped carrots out of the whole bag. I hate cooking.
Go ahead, laugh at me.
Re: Confession
I love you and your poor cutlery skills. Thanks for the visual!
That was the hardest part of learning to cook for me. A good knife helps.
I used to be on potato-peeling duty growing up so I know the peeler all too well. :-)
When I was 17 I worked at Bath and Body Works. They mopped the floors on Sunday nights. The first Sunday I closed the manager asked me to mop the floor. I told her I would be happy to but that she would need to show me how since I had never mopped a floor in my life. She looked at my like I had 27 heads.
Never having mopped a floor I can understand. But I am stunned that you've gone 30 years without peeling a vegetable. How did that happen?
I love my Pampered Chef can opener! My mom got it for me for Christmas along with the Pampered Chef slap-chop thing.
Peeling veggies is the worst. I always lose some skin or a piece of a fingernail. So gross.
I have both of these. I like how the can opener doesn't drop the lid into the can. That's so gross when that happens.

I am with you..not much of a cook (DH does all that!)
I love Pampered chef stuff though .The can opener ROCKS..I agree: No lid in the can and no sharp edges. I would have washed the carrots and left the skin on. Frankly that is where the nutrients are anyway!
