Seriously?? (NBR work vent)

This is winter quarter at work, Spring quarter starts in about 3 1/2 weeks.  I have now gotten 4 e-mails from students wanting to know exam dates for next quarter so they can plan vacations during the spring quarter and not miss tests.  Seriously??? 

First, I don't even have the syllabus done, but this course is the "gatekeeping" course for the nursing program they are trying to get into and they've all heard horror stories about it, yet they want to go overseas on vacation in the middle of the quarter. 

 FWIW I have no intention of telling them exam dates to aid in their vacation plans but I guess now I know why I am known as a b!tch, I keep interfering in their vacations!

Haha. That's crazy. I never thought about *taking days off* when I was in college. Well, except when I had a teacher that didn't take attendance...then I *might* skip a day:)

Vacations during the quarter while you're in school?!? People really do this?!?

If you'd said one student, I might think there was some special circumstance. But four? That's crazy.

I guess 4 out of 288 students isn't a huge percentage of the class, but I've still never had that many come right out and tell me they were planning vacations during the quarter.  Makes me that much less sympathetic when they come crying because they are failing.
