I swear by the SwaddleMe ones. My kid is the biggest wiggle worm on the planet and has crazy hands and feet. He would bust out of a swaddle with a regular blanket in no time, but with the velcro these ones were great.
I loved the SwaddleMe's when DS was smaller but now he's too big for his and they don't really have any of the large size which makes NO sense at all =(

The hospital size ones were the best IMO...but I also bought my own flannel fabric and had my mom edge them. The very best size is 40"x40", we used them to swaddle as a newborn and now Zach at 19 months can still use the swaddle blankets ust as blankets.
My siggy never works right! Our bug is almost 3 now!
We loved the Aden & Anais muslin swaddles. We still use them as blankies for her. I hated the swaddle blankets with the velcro. Sounds like other people liked them tho
I liked regular blankets rather than the contraptions with all of the velcro and all. That said, anything that's at least 40 or 42 inches square is what I like. The Aden and Anais ones, and the Ultimate Receiving Blankets are the ones I liked.
When she was smaller, I liked the SwaddleMes and the Miracle Blanket (she could never bust out of it!).
Now I like the Aden and Anais ones. If you go for those, make sure you buy the original ones. The ones made for Target and Amazon specifically (by Pinzon) are a lesser quality and don't last as long or wear as well. Amazon has the best prices, especially if you use some of those fantastic baby magazine coupon codes!

We LOVED the SwaddleMe blankets! Holden slept swaddled in them for way too long... We also had one Miracle blanket that I liked, but only during the winter months, during spring and summer the miracle blanket had way too many layers for him and he would sweat.
We had good luck with the swaddleme ones but my kids only used it for about a month. My friend swears by the woombie...it was a little to straight jacket for me.

How big is your DS? Mine was in this size until we stopped swaddling at around 5 months. He was about 16 pounds then.
Yeah that one. I wanted the plain cotton ones since our house stays pretty warm and DS sweats a LOT. he is 14 1/2lbs and almost 25in long.... he's huge haha

Same idea, but cheaper. It looks like torture, but it works!
This saved us with Isaac, since he was so strong he could break out of ANYTHING. Halo sleep sacks lasted maybe a month. With this it was doubly important to use something lightweight like the Aden & Anais muslim blankets, so he wouldn't overheat.
I loved just plain cotton flannel blankets, like the Circo ones at Target. They worked perfectly and I could double them up if needed. I never ended up using the special blankets since the cotton ones worked so well. I think they're 40" square.
We just used the SwaddleMes and they worked fine until right before we had to quit using them because of rolling. DD was right at the wrong size where she could bust out of either- the small was so small not enough velcro would hook, and the large couldn't get tight enough. I didn't think to register for large swaddle blankets like A&A or Swaddle Designs, though, and never got any otherwise, so I don't have a frame of reference for those vs. the SwaddleMes.
I agree just cut & sew the edges of some flannel (40" square or 42"). The trick is to let DH watch the nurses swaddle. Husbands are the best at swaddling. Flannel us actually great even in the summer because babies can not regulate their body temperature (and most people can't stand it being 80 inside their house.)
Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
Another vote for the Summer Infant SwaddleMe blankets. We swaddled her
in several different blankets, but the SwaddleMe was the fastest (for
those midnight diaper changes) and she couldn't get out of them. I have
the Aden & Anais swaddles, but didn't try them for very long before we bought a SwaddleMe. DD is now in the large size, and there is a tough period between the S/M and the L. One recommendation is to just get the cotton ones. The other night when it was 22 degrees outside I put her in a fleece one with just a onesie and she was sweating like crazy.
Honestly, the best swaddle blankets we ever got were the white, blue and yellow ones the hospital gave us.
They also made for excellent burp clothes once the girls weren't swaddled anymore.
Unable to even.

Re: What's the best swaddle blanket?
I loved the Aden & Anais muslin swaddles. They are huge, and lightweight which was great during the summer months.
I also loved the Swaddle Me flannel one, especially when he was brandnew. It is also huge and super cozy.

Hospital when they are smaller, Aden and Anais when they get bigger.
I'm going to make an AWESOME big brother.
DITTO! And nothing has changed, I am watching him on my video monitor wiggle around his crib! LOL (No he isn't in a swaddle buahahaha).

Genuis! And and good use of the useless (to me) receiving blankets.
We loved the Ultimate Receiving blanket. We only had one and I'd soemtimes do laundry just so I could use it again.
