Anybody Else Sit On A Ball At Work?

I am thinking of bringing my yoga ball to work. It might relieve the minor aches I get and I feel like it would def help my posture. I was just wondering if anyone else does this? I have 8 hour work days that are spent primarily at my desk and am just curious if they stay comfortable for that long.

I'm a SAHW, but I've been sitting on an exercise ball instead of a dining room chair for about a month because of sciatic pain.  I tried to sit on one of our dining room chairs the other day for dinner, and I lasted about 1 hour, then I had to get my ball out again.  I would try it for a few days and see if it helps!

  • I work at a gym and sometimes when I'm at a desk making calls I steal one of the fitness balls off the floor and sit on it.  I can't always do this because sometimes I'm not at a desk, but I think sitting on the ball is much better than the chair.  It does help with posture and for me it relieves tension in my back.  I say go for it but keep your chair close because you may want it sometimes.

  • I would, but my desk is way too high. I try to sit on my exercise ball when im not working though!

  • I'm glad you posted this.  I too sit at a desk for 8 hours a day and by mid-afternoon the sides of my butt and thighs are killing me from sciatic pain.  I was just saying to my co-worker that maybe I need to bring in a pillow to put on my chair because by 2pm I'm so uncomfortable sitting at my desk.  I only get relief when I stand up.  The exercise ball is a good idea though.  It sounds like it could help.

  • I used to work for the American Pregnancy Assoc and sat at a desk for 8hrs. All the girls brought in yoga balls to sit on, partially for posture and partially so that if we weren't doing anything they could use it to stretch or work out. The only difference I noticed is that they had to be the big yoga balls, not the one that was necessarily appropriate for my height, otherwise I couldn't reach the desk (I'm 5'2"). It definitely helped with posture and kept my back from hurting as much, but there were also times that I swapped it for a chair so I could lean back and relax.

  • One of my non-pg co-workers uses one. I don't have mine at work, but I don't have to sit at my desk all day. I have definitely been thinking about sitting on it at home when I am watching tv, since my super comfy couch is suddenly uncomfortable and hard to get up from!
