Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Disney world with 18 month old

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for the best part to visit with an 18 month old. I wasn't sure if Magic kingdom or Animal kingdom might be better. or we were also considering sea world.

any suggestions in terms of great rides/events would be helpful too!

Re: Disney world with 18 month old

  • I have no idea.

We're going to WDW in a few weeks.  We plan on only going to Magic Kingdom and Epcot.  We've been to both several times without baby, and both of those parks seem to have easy-going toddler friendly rides.

  • I was just at the Magic Kingdom and saw a lot of little kids. There is a lot they can do. FantasyLand is really suited for the younger crowd.

  • We did Magic Kingdom last year when DS was 8 months old and he loved it! We're heading back in ten days too. There are a ton of rides that they can go on at Magic Kingdom, and a few shows that they'll enjoy too (Country Bear Jamboree, Disney Philharmonic, Monster's Inc Laugh In). Don't think that they can only hit the Fantasy Land rides either, DS loved Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise, and we would have taken him on Haunted Mansion but he fell asleep, lol.

We were debating Sea World this year too, but when I looked into their kiddie land, DS was still much to short to go on anything, and I know that he's be pointing at it and want too. At Animal Kingdom, which they would like the animals (same with Sea World), there isn't much else that an 18 months old can do. I think your money's better spent at the Magic Kingdom.

  • We just did WDW with a 3 yr old and and alomst 18 month old.

Magic Kingdom was really the only place that had a lot of things for them to do.

We were a little dissapointed that Epcot and Hollywood Studios didn't have much, maybe 3 rides at most.

We didn't get to Animal Kingdom but that may have some more stuff for the little ones.

Overall we had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

  • I was just in Orlando last week with my 22 month old. We skipped the Magic Kingdom entirely because we didn't think it was worth it at his age. We went to Sea World instead and he loved it! He is still talking about Shamu! Lots of shows and he just loved seeing all the animals. We visited Downtown Disney (its free) and went to the T-Rex cafe and that was fun for him.

  • We are taking DD to WDW in July and she will be 17 months! There is a TON of stuff to do at the Magic Kingdom - Dumbo, Flying Carpets, It's a Small World, WDW Railroad train, parades, Jungle Cruise, Tiki Birds, Astro Orbiter, Mickey and Minnie's Houses, Pirates of the Carribean, meeting the characters, etc. Animal Kingdom has some attractions that baby would like too, I think - Kilamanjaro Sufari, Rafiki's Rescue train thing, seeing animals, Lion King show, Nemo show, bird show, etc. I have never been to Sea World, so I can speak regarding that. I can't wait! I am so excited! Also, at WDW, it might be fun to schedule a character meal! Make sure to reserve in advance - some meals book up fast! Have fun!
  • We are taking DS when he is 18 months old and plan on doing all 4 parks. There is plenty to offer at them all.  As far as the two you are talking about MK would be the best. You will be good wherever you go though! Have fun.
