Colic?

The last few days, starting around 3 or 4 pm my son has started becomig extremely difficult. He's 4 weeks old and starting in the late afternoon he becomes difficult to comfort.

He'll sleep for 10 minutes or so, then wake up screaming. He'll scream for 10 minutes or so, then in one second fall back to sleep. He does this from late afternoon (3 or 4) til 10 or 11pm. Then during the night he'll only sleep for an hour and a half or two hours before waking up screaming. Then it usually takes me 20 minutes or so to get him back to sleep. It's not like him to act this way. He's usually quietly alert during the day and usually sleeps 3 1/2 or 4 hours at a time during the night.

It's becoming very difficult for me because I'm pumping and feeding him breast milk with a bottle and it's becoming difficult to find time to pump without him demanding my attention. Not to mention the lack of sleep actually brought me to tears last night.

Could this be colic? Or is he a regular infant and I'm just being a big baby myself??

That sounds like my baby...

I think my baby has a gas issue...he will fall asleep for 10  min adn then wake up screaming, passes gas, and then falls back to sleep for 10 min adn then wakes up screaming, passes gas, then falls back asleep...i think you get the point. 

at night i have a hard time getting him back to sleep if he does wake up...although my nights dont sound as rough as yours are.

i'm switching formulas tonight to enfamil gentleease to see if that helps...but i'm interested to see what others say...

just hang in there...i'm sure it will get better.

my baby went through that, turns out his was acid reflux.  could be the same with your LO?
