That was kind of the prognosis at the dr. this afternoon.
They ran a test (FFN) to see if my severe pain today was related to PTL, but it takes a day to get the results back. Dr was fairly confident (80%) that wasn't it, since he checked my cervix and it was closed (but good god was that the most painful cervix check I've ever experienced. I actually cried).
He started poking around on my belly a little bit and suddenly goes "Oh, I don't think that bump is baby. Does it hurt there?" Well, more there than anywhere, but it kind of hurts everywhere.
So...I go in tomorrow for some more tests, an U/S to see if there's a fibroid (u/s tech was already gone for the day and dr. doesn't do u/s's on his own I guess), and we go from there. 80% chance that everything is mostly okay. 20% chance that tomorrow starts "Jail" as doc likes to call hospital bed rest. ACK! Ohhhhhkayyyyy. Breathe.
Re: Probably fibroids? Probably not PTL?
A girlfriend of mine discovered fibroids at around 19 weeks, so I guess it's not unheard of. You'd think they would have seen them at your anatomy scan, though, if they are already big enough to be so painful! ((Hugs)) to you, lady!
Its odd that if its that prominent they didn't notice anything at your anatomy scan. That said, something like 50% of women have fibroids (I'm one of them) and its possible that you had one that had a growth spurt for some reason (most likely extra blood flow to that region). I really hope they are able to get you better answers...and that those answers don't involve "jail".
