Spit up. Need advice...

So, DS has silent reflux and has been on Prevacid for it for awhile.  Its helping a lot and he's doing good.  Silent reflux is where he spits up but it only makes it halfway up his esophogus and he swallows it.

But now (and for the past week or so, maybe a bit longer) he's been seriously spitting up.  All.the.time.  He does not seem bothered at all by it.  Its not forceful.  Its usually a burp or just dribbles out.  But is it weird that he is suddently a spitter-upper, at 4.5 months??  How much spit up is normal?  I kind of thought we might have been lucky and not had to deal with spit up.  But nope, we are going through a few bibs a day (and a few outfits too!).  Just wondering if this is normal and when it tends to slow down.

 Thanks!

Re: Spit up. Need advice...

  • I think prevacid dosage is by weight.  You might want to take him in and see if his weight difference would increase the dosage?!?

Good Luck!!  Reflux is no fun!  :(

  • It never hurts to call the doctor just to make sure.  However, that kind of spit up is pretty normal for babies.

  • My girls' spit up increased around 5-6 mo but our pedi said that Prevacid is a single dosage, not by weight. At any rate, a month or so ago, I realized that my girls almost ever spit up anymore.
  • I'd call to ask about the dosage, but if it's not bothering him, it sounds like regular old spit up and nothing more than a laundry issue.  :)
