OK ... I'm going to start tracking my temps with a basal thermometer The directions say to start temping right after my menstrual period ends. Is this right? I am asking these things because I hear different versions. Also, is rectal or oral temping better. If rectal, what lubricant do you use because the box states not to use petroleum jelly? I am really beat because I got my period today and I am getting scared. DH and I are going to a RE on Monday. If I get my period again next time we try I am willing to then to try clomid (yikes(.
Re: Basal Temp Questions
I take my temp every day. You can really start anytime, but it should be at least a few days before Ovulation. If you have not done so, create an account on FertiliyFriend.com. it's the bestway to go. click my chart below to get there.
Oral or rectal is fine as long as you do it the same way everyday. I choose for oral.
Clomid really isn't that scary if you are under the care of an RE. Good luck!

I don't start temping until after my period. Some women do it everyday just to stay in the habit of temping though. I only take my temp orally.
If you are going to take your temp vaginally, you probably wouldn't need lubricant. I've heard that vaginal temping is a little more accurate, but I'm fine with taking my temp orally
I'm not familiar with rectal temping for tracking fertility so I'm no help with that. GL!
I temp the whole time. I also do it orally, I haven't read any benefit in doing it vaginally.
I started Clomid with my regular OB/GYN in Oct. 50mg, then Nov. 100mg, and Dec. 100mg. January we met with an RE for the first time and fell in love with the practice. The RE put me on Clomid in Feb 100mg, and did our first IUI, with an HCG trigger shot. I'm on Clomid again for March 100mg and will do another IUI.
I have not have any problems on Clomid. I find that I'm more thristy, so I just drink more water. My RE closely monitors me while on Clomid, unlike my OB/GYN. I haven't had any swelling in my ovaries or any cysts. This month was the first month that I felt I was more emotional b/c of Clomid.
We felt great after our RE appt. we are just kicking ourselves for not seeking out the RE earlier.
GL with everything:)
