What are some of your favorite birthday ideas?

I'm beginning to plan DD's 2nd birthday party. I don't want to do it at my house, and since her birthday is the end of July it will be HOT!! I was thinking about doing it at the Children's Museum but I'm unsure if I should save that for when she is older. Any other suggestions, preferably either water related or indoors? Thanks!!

  • I don't really have any ideas either yet.  It will be hot for us, too - end of August.  We had her party at our house last year and boy... that was rough - talk about hot!  Our a/c just couldn't keep up with the heat outside and the amount of people we had inside.

My nephew's 2nd birthday party was at the Children's Museum.  It was nice, I guess.  It was crowded!  The room was pretty tight and I don't know if it's something I would do - I just felt like we were rushed in and out kind of there - but then I feel that way about most places when I attend kid's parties.  :-/  Anyway, it was packed because it was a Saturday so while the room was private, the museum itself was still busy - not to mention with the other parties going on at the same time.  Otherwise I think it was fine for the age - the kids all seemed to have fun (aside from one or two babies at the time) they all ranged from 2-10.

  • we did the boys' second bday party at the children's museum. it was perfect! i don't think age really matters there. in fact, i'm thinking about having it there again for their fourth bday.

(and with their birthday in december, it's either too cold or rainy to have it outside.)

  • We're most likely going to do DD's party at Bukoo Bounce in Elmwood. Her birthday is in July as well, and I'll have a 3 month old to look after along with trying to do the planning. I'd prefer not to have something at my house, so I started looking around. She LOVES jumping on the trampoline and bouncy stuff, so I know she'll enjoy it. Plus all of her older cousins can enjoy it as well. It's all-inclusive, which is perfect b/c I will not have to do all the work this year!

  • For his 1st birthday we had it at the Zoo and it was a blast! I highly suggest it!

For his 2nd and 3rd we had someone at our house. #2 we had a pirate coming and for #3 we had a train come that took the kiddos around the neighborhood.
