Name pick...not as easy as I thought

So since we found out last week that we?re Team Pink, this weekend DH and me had the name talk. Turned out that he favors names that I absolutely dont like and that he isnt really too happy about my picks either lol  At least so far we have found two names that we are both comfortable with, I guess. He likes Abby and I like Emma. DH also wants a middle name but I am flat out clueless when it comes to both names. Any of you ladies have ideas for the middle names?

Re: Name pick...not as easy as I thought

  • I like family names as middle names. Even though April is not my favorite name, it honors my sister and since she will be the Godmother, I love it!

  • I think Rose sounds good with both names.  :)

My husband and I could only really agree on one name, so that's what we went with (It's Audrey, btw).  In my husband's words, "She only needs one name anyway!"

For a middle name, I like to use a family name.  Audrey will have the same middle name and both my mother and I have, Anne.  Other options for us were Frances (my paternal grandmother), Rose (maternal side family name), or Bernadette (his maternal grandmother).  Are there any names on either side of your families that you particularly like or would like to honor someone?

Oh, and I like Emma and think that it's a good stand-alone name.  But, I think of Abby as more of a nickname than a stand alone name.  I'd go with Abigail with the nn Abby, so as she gets older and goes into a professional setting, she'll have a more adult option for a name to go by.

That is excactly why I am not very happy with his pick and he only likes Abby but not Abigail.  Since I am German I dont want Abigail because my part of the family might have a hard time to pronounce it and with Emma that wouldnt be a problem. But if I cant decide on a middle name within the next couple of weeks, we?ll just have to go with one name.

  • Keep looking through names on different websites or specialty baby name books.  Maybe try to search specifically for German baby girl names if you think that would be nice.  DH and I came to a decison on our little man's first name fairly easily, but it took us forever to pick out a MN.  He was so set on a name that I didn't like.  I knew what his preferences were, so I searched through a LOT more baby names until I found one that was similar but that I really liked too.  We probably went through hundreds of names looking for a MN, but we found one that we both love.  I'm sure you'll find one...my DH said no to sooooooo many ones I suggested, but in the end, we found one that worked perfectly.
