Okay first time looking online at a pea in the pod, I just gotta know do some of you ladies really fork out $200. for a pair of jeans that you are only going to wear a few months????
I have one pair of $20 maternity jeans that are suiting me just fine. I'm a bargain shopper, so the thought of spending that much on jeans of any type, much less maternity jeans that I'll only wear for a few more months, baffles me.
I think people's financial situations are really different on this board, which is evident from the posts. I think some people are used to dropping $200 on jeans normally, so it's not a big deal to do it for maternity jeans.
Frankly, I've been in maternity jeans since the first trimester and expect to be in them for at least a few months post-partum, so I expect probably almost a year of usage from the jeans. I bought jeans at Pea in the Pod and ended up going with the $100 ones because they just ended up fitting the best, but I wasn't opposed to and did try on a few $200 ones. I live in jeans in the cold months, so it's worth it to me to buy something that makes me feel normal and put together.
I also bought some at Target just to have a couple pair, and those are always falling down and sagging in the butt. $30 to have a saggy butt vs $100 to have a cute butt? I'll gladly pay the extra money.
No way, I myself couldn't do it. I wouldn't spend that on a non-maternity pair of jeans. I think the most I've spent is $40 and to me that's a little on the high side, I prefer to stay around the $20 range, look for BOGO offers, or something of that sort. For shirts I don't like to spend more than $10 for shirt, there are enough sales out there that this is so possible!
To each their own though, I just feel like there are so many things for our LO that could be bought for that!

Absolutely not! I just bought mine about a month ago and will only wear them for about 4 months...I personally think that is insane. Non-maternity jeans that I wear ALL the time...yes.

Pea in the Pod has a crazy range of prices. I've gotten some shirts there for $15, but then you'll see a really simple dress for $250 or something. I don't get it!
I guess I'm in denial. I have not bought any maternity pants. I where the BeBand when I need to. I wear stretchy pants or looser pants other times. I will say, most of my pants are too big because I had lost a bunch of weight before getting pregnant. So most of them still button without me using the band. One pair is still too big buttoned and I have to use the band anyway.
nope... i've got 3 pairs of maternity jeans that i bought during my last pregnancy which cost me a total of $45 probably.
i think it's fine if you have the money and want to pay $200 for a pair and plan to keep them for later pregnancies or something.
i don't spend that kind of money on myself anyway, can't afford to, but if i could afford to, i probably would buy something in a $100 price range.
i don't know, even $100 sounds crazy to me right now... i think i'd have to have a bank account full of lottery winnings to figure out what i'd actually spend on clothes lol

Hell, yes. If I have to gain weight, I'm going to look as good as I can doing it. I tried on a pair of Hudson jeans and felt like a million bucks and sort of sexy for the first time in the last five months. I might look just OK in them to everyone else, but I feel good in them, and that's worth the money to me. And obviously I'm not going to buy $200 jeans instead of paying the light bill or something.
I think everyone spends money on something that someone else would a find stupid expense. (I don't pay anyone to clean my house, for instance, but I don't judge people who do.)
I wear jeans almost every day to work so I have no problem spending money on a good pair that fit me properly. Most of my non-maternity jeans are on the pricier side. I don't need to buy dress clothes for work so all my clothes budget goes towards the same things. I'd prefer to spend more money up front on jeans that fit well and are high quality than have to replace cheaper ones more frequently.
For maternity clothes, I've been buying cheaper stuff as long as it fits me well and I feel good in it. I have one pair of jeans from Pea in a Pod but they weren't the $200 ones and my other pairs are from The Gap (~$79 each). I always buy within my means and would never sacrifice the more important things (food, house, bills, savings) to by clothes. MH and I are very fortunate that our careers pay well, but we also both went through lots of schooling to get to where we are which means we lived many years as poor grad students and MH has massive student loans to pay off from med school.
I dont know if I would pay that much I mean you can get them cheaper if you go on ebay or something but to buy right from the store it is expensive. BUT i suggest going to the store because they have a clearence section where as online shopping wont really give you the deals you can possible get. Also I went to some awesome thrift stores by my house I got 2 pairs of Pea in the Pod shorts both were like $5 each, and most of my maternity jeans are from motherhood & some from Gap.
But is this your first baby?? Are you going to have anymore? Because getting a few good quality items would pay off in the long run if your plan on more pregnancies and building that wardrobe. Plus you can always sell them when your done.
No way. I just turned a couple pairs of regular jeans into maternity jeans. I have no desire to spend a lot of money on jeans that I won't wear very much. I do however spend money on yoga pants because I wear them whether I am pg or not and I don't need a different size, so I just wear those a lot.
If I thought I was going to have a bunch of kids, and I had one pair of jeans then I could justify it--especially if they were made in the states or Europe and not in China.
I will spend more money on items if I think that the price correlates with how long the item will last. I would rather spend more and buy it once, than buy it cheap and have to rebuy it all the time.
I personally wouldn't, but I also don't wear jeans to work. I did however shell out some money for a business suit from A Pea in the Pod. I felt like that was definitely worth it
