DS1 was never like DS2. DS1 would sleep through everything - bottle feedings & diaper changes - he'd fall right to sleep, on his own. DS2 cries with every diaper/clothing change and it takes him forever to soothe himself and fall asleep. Any suggestions on how to soothe him? He doesn't quite get the whole pacifier.... he sucks on it for a second and then spits it out.... DS1 never, ever cried.... so this is all new to DH & I. I know babies cry - just wish I could figure out how to soothe him. TIA.
Re: soothing advice
Rocking an infant may help relax them but the ultimate goal is to allow a drowsy baby to put themselves asleep so that rocking does not become part of a necessary routine to help them sleep.
What helped us was swaddling our LO and rocker and talking/singing softly to her until she was drowsy. Then get up from the rocker still talking/singing softly lay LO down and continue to sing and still hold LO as they are laying in the crib. Let go softly and walk away singing.
I don't know.... it worked for us.
THIS!! I have not read the book yet but the DVD was a lifesaver. I hear they have it on youtube also but i just got the DVD from my library.
