Starting Childcare search in N.E. San Antonio

Hi girls, can someone provide me w/some places to start searching for childcare?  Both DH & I work full-time and I'm due late July/early August so we will need care for the l/o from about 8wks on.  Dreadful--my job only allows 6wks but I'm going to fight to get 8, we'll see...

None of my mommy girlfriends live here so I'm at a loss of where to start searching!  I work in Schertz but we live off 1604 & O'Connor Road and DH works near the airport.  If you ladies can point me in any direction I would truly be grateful!  TIA!

Re: Starting Childcare search in N.E. San Antonio

  • I used Care.com and have been very impressed with the service. We have been blessed and found awonderful family that watches our little girl. There is a 20% discount code on retailmenot.com.
  • Well, we have our DD at St. Andrews Weekday School (St. Andrews United Methodist Church), which is in the Oak Park/Northwood area just inside 410 and north of Alamo Heights.  I know it would be pretty far from your house, but only about 10 mins from the airport.

We're very, very happy with it. DD goes full time and loves it. Only issue would be that they've already done registration for the 2011-12 school year, but if you're interested you could simply call the office to inquire.

From talking with other parents, I've heard good things about the daycare/school at Alamo Heights UMC and Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church. Sorry that I don't know of any others!

    Good luck in your search!

  • Thanks for the response ladies!  I'll check into the Care.com site & the St.Andrews school.  Boy, I can tell this is going to get overwhelming fast!

  • Hi Sarah-  I too live near 1604 and O'Connor and am due in mid July.  I am also searching for a full time day care.  If you find anything let me know, and I'll do the same.  I have a friend who uses New Vision Learning Center on O Connor and she likes it.  She also recommended Holy Trinity on Naco.
