Constipation?

DD was so constipated the other day from me having to give her 2 formula bottles....(she is normally BF) Finally, I did a baby fleet enema, and sh ewent, and went and went! Well here we are a day later, and she has not gone at all today either. She has been EBF for the past 3 days and should be going regularly again right????

Or is she just so emptied out from the enema that it will take a while to get her regular again?  Any experiences with this

Hi, I never gave an enema but did have to use warm prune juice per the advice of my pediatrician. When I first gave it to my extremely constipated baby (then about 2 months old), she had a few big BMs one day and then nothing the next day and still wasn't regular after that. Through trial and error, I found out that she needed one ounce of warm prune juice (without any extra water) daily to go poop. This lasted about a week and a half or so but now she goes every day on her own without the prune juice. We also switched to a gentler formula for a while until she got regular on her own then gradually transitioned her back to regular formula. Hope this helps!

Enemas are usually pretty effective.  I'd think that she may have emptied out her entire tract, so it might take a bit for her to build some up again and start pooping.  As long as she's not really upset/uncomfortable, I'd leave her alone and let her body adjust.  It's not unusual for babies to not poop every day (depending on the age of the baby), and you can actually cause more problems giving them things like stool softeners or enemas to make them go.

Our LO was pooping like 8 times a day and then at 4 weeks he stopped. he pooped once in a 24 hour period, and then not again until over 36 hours later. We asked our mothers/friends with babies and they said its normal. The older they get the less they poop. Its normal for them to poop only once a week if breastfed when they are 3+weeks since there is not much to actually turn into poop is what we were told. That being said LO finally pooped tonight after not going for 1.5 days and it was a hot mess that got all over him and his swing. ewwwww.

Also formula has iron in it, so since she got 2 bottles of formula that her tummy is not used too im sure the iron in the formula has backed her up
