how long on each breast

My LO is 1 week old, I try for 10 minutes per breast but she falls asleep most of the time.  Was wondering about others nursing times

My DD nurses about 10 min on each side maybe longer and also falls asleep. What I have started doing is nursing on one side than once she falls asleep I change her diaper which always wakes her up than nurse on the other side. This is my night time savior, its the only way to get her to eat till she is full and it gets her to sleep for longer periods of time.

As long as he wants.  Usually its 15 minutes or so on the first side and 10 minutes on the second side.  Your DD will get more alert as she get older and will fall into more of a routine then.  In the meantime, you can stroke under her chin or tickle her feet to get her to keep eating.

LO was at about 10 minutes each side (and still often is), but as he gets older, there are times where he's at one breast for 20 and even 30 minutes.   After a big session like that, he's at breast #2 for a lot less...maybe 10 minutes.  He's hard to arouse, but he doesn't like the back of his neck tickled (doesn't seem to mind feet) so that's my "wake up baby" move.
