help with wild baby arms....

DDs arms are so wild when she is trying to sleep.  It seriously looks like she is conducting an orchestra!  Not just the startle reflex...I mean her arms wave in the air nonstop.  We have been swaddling her but now she fights it and screams when we put her in it.  I have tried leaving her out of the swaddler and her crazy ass arms keep her up.  Any ideas on what besides the swaddle or wombie would work?  Thanks!

  • We swaddle at night.  He doesn't like it, so generally our nighttime routine goes: change diaper, swaddle, nurse right away to distract him from the fact that he's swaddled, bed.  He used to kind of get used to having his arms tied down and be fine with it after a while.  Lately, though, he's been fighting it more, and we may need to start phasing out the swaddle.  I'd definitely try to stick with it a little longer, though.  You may just need to get her through the initial frustration of being swaddled and then she'll be OK.

  • We solved this problem by getting a velcro swaddler (the Halo sleep sack swaddle). Worked wonders for LO! He does okay with naps during the day, but we swaddle him at night, and he has slept as much as 5-6 hours at a time!
