More NBR wedding related.... really?

DH's friend is having a celebration/ceremony to mark their last year's elopement, and I was amazed at their wedding website today..... They sent out facebook invites to RSVP on thier website, where they have a volunteer page, asking for people to make dessert, art, food, stock the bar, take pics, set up, tear down, and do pretty much everything else.

I get that friends and family like to contribute, and we had help at our wedding from the bridesmaids and grooms men, but they have a clicky poll for people to sign up for jobs! And it's not a backyard wedding, they rented an art gallery.

It just doesn't make sense to me.....Maybe I'm just extra judgemental today. Just had to get that off my chest.

this! I don't understand some people - why elope in the first place if you really want friends and family to celebrate........ just save the money and do it properly and save people the effort of having to volunteer their services to host you a party..... that's just IMO though

We eloped and promised family that we would do it "properly" for our ten year, and we did and did it on our own. Lots of saving and planning. It was actually the best wedding ever, my son walked me down the aisle and my daughter was my flower girl. I have never heard of a wedding like the one you are talking about. Really I guess it's all about the situation but really that sounds like alot!
