I know there is no such thing as TMI on this board...

But there are some things that are still so awkward to talk about. With that being said, let's talk hemorrhoids. Is it possible to have hemorrhoids and it not be painful? I have definitely noticed that going to the bathroom has been more straining. I just took a shower and as I was soaping up, I noticed that my anus felt... well... different. Normally it feels tight, but it felt like there was something there that was moving around as I was washing. I know hemorrhoids are swollen veins, and that's definitely what it felt like. Yet, I have no pain, itching, or discomfort at all. And although haven't been paying close attention, I haven't noticed any blood either. Jus wondering if anyone else had any experience with painless hemorrhoids. TIA ladies!

Re: I know there is no such thing as TMI on this board...

  • A few weeks ago I noticed some blood when I wiped... Being the paranoid person I am, I called my mom who is a PA right away.  It never itched or had any other symptom for me either, but she was pretty sure that I had a hemorrhoid.  She wasn't worried about it because I didn't have any discomfort and she told me I was fine unless I did start to feel uncomfortable and that they usually they go away on their own.  A few days later, nothing.  I would call your doc just in case, since it sounds like you can definitely feel it, but they might say the same thing.  Hope that helped.

  • that's what it sounds like to me. it happens to me from time to time even pre-pg and it's not super bad. if you are having to much trouble going then you can take a stool softener (no laxative) to help. you might want to call the dr, but it really doesn't sound like anything to worry about IMO.
  • It is absolutely possible. I had hemorrhoids pre-pregnancy, unfortunately, and I can tell you from experience that they only itch/bleed/cause problems when they are irritated. Mine don't give me any trouble unless I get constipated, so as long as I keep regular, they're fine. Sounds like yours are under control, which is great!
