bright red blood...in stool...sorry major TMI

Dismclaimer - very much TMI...

Yesterday I went to the bathroom; and saw quite a bit of bright red blood in the toilet.  I figured it was still pp bleeding - but nope, it was coming from my rear end.  One wipe though & it was gone.

Now today I just had a bm & the toilet was full of bright red blood again.  This time though it looked like I passed a huge clot along w/ my bm...so wiped and again and sure enough - there was hardly any blood on the toilet paper.  I know it's not from pp bleeding...clearly it's cmoing from my rectal area.  I had a small hemmoroid after delivery - but haven't had any issues w/ it for a few weeks & it has disappeared.

What in the world could all this blood be? Or what does it mean?  Anyone had any experience with this situation..? TIA!

  • Probably a hemi

ETA if you don't think its a hemi you need to see your doc.  Blood in stool can be serious intestinal issues.

I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • I don't know about the blood clot part, that's a little scary. The rest of it sounds like it could be fissures, little cracks around the anus that tear and bleed a little when you strain while having a bm. They're annoying, but not serious if that's what it is.

  • It's possible that you have an internal hemorrhoid that you can't feel, and that it's causing the bleeding.  If you're losing a lot of blood, though, and you're not sure where it's coming from, it's time to call your doctor.  The sorts of medical problems (aside from hemorrhoids) that cause bleeding like that are extremely rare but very serious.

  • bright red blood is usually an internal hemroid.  I have crohn's disease and if you are bleeding from your intestine it is usually a darker color and not bright red.  Some people bleed a lot with hemroids (sp?)  and many don't even know they have them internally.  I don't know about the clot though...I might just call your dr. anyway.  especially since you just had a baby etc.  You never know what is going on.  This is my experience with my intestinal issues though :)

  • I was also going to say internal hemi. The clot sounds odd, though. I'd call the doc if it continues this week.

  • I had this happen a lot after my first son was born and a few random times throughout my life.  My doctor said it's just hemorroids or something.  I don't worry about it.  It doesn't cause any pain or discomfort and it's not a scary amount of blood.  With this 2nd pregnancy I haven't had it happen.
