Would you call your doc over this?

For about an hour I've been having stomach cramps, menstrual type cramps, stitches of pain in my side and baaad back pain (I can't move without really bad pain and every time I breathe in I get a sharp pain as well).  The reason I'm asking is because I've also been a little gassy Embarrassed  It only happens when I'm standing up and walking or laying on my side.  Suggestions, comments, flames?  You know what to do :)

Re: Would you call your doc over this?

  • If it persisted I would. Right about now is when the BH start though, so maybe it could be that? I haven't had any though so I wouldn't know what to tell you.

  • If I ever call for things like that, the first thing they suggest is for me to drink a lot of water, at least 32 oz.... and then call back after laying for an hour to see if I've had more BH, cramps, etc.I had to do it a couple times this week because I was having BH - it worked, so maybe I was getting dehydrated.

Maybe try that? If it doesn't get better, then try calling.

  • I had bad back pains yesterday after walking around the mall for awhile. Sat down eventually and they got better. I would try laying down on your left side, lots of water and seeing what happens after that. If it persists, definitely call. I also call when pain persists but I lay down and drink water as a first line of defense. feel better.

Maybe I'll do this (the water, I've been doing the laying down part) because then if it is still bad in an hour I can bypass this step, good idea, thanks :)

  • This is TMI but I feel like this if I realy have to go #2.  Have you gone to the bathroom lately?

Ditto what the other ladies said...if you have tried drinking water, lying on your left side, and all the other things, I would call.

  • I was genuinely surprised how much water has cured my aches/pains/stomach issues/headaches/BH/etc during my pregnancy. I've only taken Tylenol twice, and that was because the water didn't work first.

    Hope you feel better soon!!!

  • I did try going #2 but I am pretty sure its not that since I did that earlier this morning and it doesn't feel like it does when I'm constipated.  I hope the water works but I just went to the bathroom and it was clear as water!  So who knows!

  • Last week it was all about me being dehydrated. I was having BH contractions and was laying down and drinking water but they were still bad. When I went in I was actually really dehydrated. Drink more water than you think is plenty. I had to drink 96 ounces before they let me leave the hospital.

  • The water really helped me a lot.  Cripes, I'm gonna have to set up shop next to the water cooler tomorrow morning!  I usually drink about 100 oz a day but get my first 30 oz in the morning, sleeping in was a bad idea :(

So glad it worked for you!

  • I'd say that's definitely not a BH contraction.  I have had pains like this with really terrible gas though.  You could always call if it's worrying you, but I do have gas pains like that and they actually prevent me from walking or moving without extreme pain.

  • At my 28 week appointment, my doc specifically asked if I was having and mentstrual cramp type pains/feelings.  I haven't, so I didn't ask what they could mean.  I would do the water and rest, etc, but if it would make you worry less-call the doctor.  That is what they are there for!

    Feel better!!
