LO and wet diapers

I plan on asking my pedi about this tomorrow but thought you ladies might have some ideas. DS is a week old and the past 3 days, every time he has a wet diaper, it goes out of his diaper and up his back and his clothes get soaked. I am going through so many clothes b/c of this. When I was changing him yesterday, he urinated and it looked like some came out down by his butt (if that makes any sense) as well as his penis. Could it just be the diaper being too small maybe? He's just over 7lbs. so we have him in newborns.

What brand diapers do you use? We started with huggies newborns and evertime we put a diaper on him it leaked out. So we switched to pampers and we have never had a problem with them!

I didn't think of that! We've been using Huggies b/c that's what we got as gifts but I think I'll have H pick up a pack of pampers to try. Thanks!

Yeah our ds used pampers becuase of that. Our  dd is in huggies and they seem to work well. Also the poop is still really loose at this age, and make sure his penis is facing downwards when you put on his diaper.
