With all of the posts about visiting schedules... it got me thinking about this...

 

How far away from the NICU do you live?

Do you have to pay for parking?

Are you working? Is DH/SO?

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now?

Are you BF or pumping at this time? 

 

I'll give my answers:

1. About 40-50 mins... and on a toll road... 

2. Yes. It's discounted but not by much...

3. I haven't gone back yet. DH goes back tomorrow

4. 28w4d gestation. 2 weeks, 1 day old today.  

5. Pumping... he's too small and young to BF right now.

How far away from the NICU do you live? Our house was 45-55 minutes away, we lived with family while he was in the NICU which was only 15-20 minutes away

Do you have to pay for parking? Yes, it is discounted, a maximum of $6 a day, free if under 3 hours (we usually ended up paying the max every day).

Are you working? Is DH/SO? I took 6 weeks off when he was first born, then went back to work until he came home.  My husband took a few days off, then worked half days for a few more, then went back full time.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now? He was 25 weeks 2 days.  Right now he is 6 1/2 months old, 3 months adjusted. 

Are you BF or pumping at this time? I am still pumping because he has trouble gaining weight and I have to add extra calories to the breastmilk.

I pumped the entire time she was in the NICU and continued until she was about 3 months old. We switched to formula full time at 3 months. My milk never came in.

If it's full, we can valet for free... but if valet is full, we pay to park up to $18 a day.Are you working? Is DH/SO? I am on maternity leave. DH took a week off but is back to work. How far away from the NICU do you live?

45 Minutes away from her current NICU to our house.  1 hour 30 minutes away from her current NICU to my work.  35 Minutes away from the new NICU to our house.  5 minutes from the new NICU to my work.

Do you have to pay for parking?

Current NICU - yes.  It is discounted if we buy parking passes in packs (it is about $1 a day).  I forgot to ask about parking at the new NICU.  We did not have to pay when we visited.

Are you working? Is DH/SO?

I went back to work 4 weeks post partum.  DH went back to work 1 week post partum.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now?

26w2d gestation.  DD is a whole 8 weeks old today!

Are you BF or pumping at this time? 

Pumping.  Worried about my supply, and I hate having to take 20 - 30 minutes out of my day every 2-3 hours to pump, but it is really important to me and I think I would feel worse if I didn't pump.  At least this way I can provide her something caring and nurturing (literaly).

How far away from the NICU do you live? With the twins, we lived a 5-10 minute drive and a 15 minute walk. It was so close and easy. With A, we live about 20-25 minutes away from the hospital. I'm very glad that it's relatively close.

Do you have to pay for parking? No. I either take a cab to the hospital (I can't drive) or I hitch a ride with my H (he works at the hospital). With the twins, I usually walked there for exercise.

Are you working? Is DH/SO? I'm on maternity leave and my H does work. He's saving his time off for when A comes home.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now? A was born at 31 weeks and she is 4.5 weeks old now. She turned 1 month, yesterday.

Are you BF or pumping at this time? Nope. We FF.

No waaaaaaaaay lol I pumped for about 6 weeks, then BF for a few more months, then my supply dipped too low and we couldn't get it back up, so we went to formula.

I was off for 7 months.  DS was in the NICU for the first 4.5 months. DH went back to work after the frist 2 weeks and just took off as needed after that. How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now? born 23w5d.  He's 8 months old tomorrow! Are you BF or pumping at this time? Pumped for 6 months. He's still getting half breast milk from my stash.  We probably only have a week or two left, then it will be all formula!

Do you have to pay for parking?yes, after 5pm it was discounted and on the weekends as well.  We spent about 20 buck/day parking it ended up being over $1,000

Is DH/SO?I am a teacher and delivered in July so I was off work and my district gave me an additional paid 12 weeks that started when she came home.  DW was laid off the May before Ella was born (which was good and bad)  She stayed home with E last year when I returned to work in January.  She is now a full time grad student I am back teaching.

Are you BF or pumping at this time? No I pumped for just under 12 months.  E never got the hang of bf and I had to go back to work so it just worked out that I would pump and she had bottles.

Do you have to pay for parking? no - the hospital in our area doesn't charge for parking

Are you working? Is DH/SO? DS was in NICU for a week.  I was on materity leave.  DS took a week and a couple days off.  DS came home ona Thursday DH went back to work on the Monday.  He took FMLA.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now? 34 weeks - He is 27 months now.

Are you BF or pumping at this time? I pumped at first, starting bfing at 4 days.  Alternated BF and pump while he was at NICU 3 more days.  WHen he came home slowly increased to all bfing sessions over about 2 weeks.  Bf (pumped when at work)  until 20 months.

2. No, the hospital gave us a parking permit, but the only garage we can park in is a hike ( I shouldn't complain, but it was hell at first to walk that far.)

3. I actually left my job in the second tri, because of all the complications. The plan is that I will be a SAHM at least for a while. DH had to go back the week after the twins were born (this past Monday).

4. 26 weeks exactly...2 weeks old tomorrow

How far away from the NICU do you live? We were down visiting my parents in southern Indiana when Jack was born, so our NICU was about 7 hours from our home. I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House close to the hospital and my H went home so he could work. He came down to visit every other weekend. It was a nightmare.

Do you have to pay for parking? Nope

Are you working? Is DH/SO? I worked before J was born but since we were stuck 7 hours away from home while he was in the NICU I quit my job and now I SAH. My H works full time in as a human resources manager.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now? He was a 25 weeker and will be 7 months old next week!

Are you BF or pumping at this time? I pumped until he was 6 months old. Now we FF and he gets frozen BM once a day.

1.  We live about 45 minutes to an hour away from the hospital.  All the driving is exhausting!

2. I pay between $4-$10 per day for parking in the garage

3. My DH went back to work a couple of weeks ago.  I have 6 months off and will return to work on August 1.

4. DS was 29 weeks 5 days and now he's 33 weeks 3 days.  :-)

5.  I am pumping 7 times a day and have tried BF twice in the NICU.  With DS1, who was also born prematurely and in the NICU, I pumped and bottle fed for 6 months.   I'm seriously considering pumping and bottle feeding again with DS2.

Are you working? Is DH/SO? I went back to work at 3 weeks postpartum. I work at the hospital where DS is at. I will have 3 months off when he is discharged. DH is allowed to work from home but goes in most of the time.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now? 31 weeks & 1 day. DS is now 35 weeks & 2 days. 1 month down. yay!

Are you BF or pumping at this time? Pumping like a madwoman. Hopefully we will start trying to BF this week.

Do you have to pay for parking? No, I work at the hospital so we used my ID for parking.

Are you working? Is DH/SO? I don't work much, just enough to keep my licence active (24 hours a month). DH travels for work. He was home for about a month after DS was born, but started traveling again M-F for several weeks before DS was discharged.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? 31 weeks due to an abruption How many weeks old is LO now? 14 months

Are you BF or pumping at this time? I pumped/ breastfeed for 6 months, until the G.I. doctor figured out my DS's tunny trouble was from an allergic reaction to dairy, soy and a protein in my breastmilk. He moved to Elecare at that time and is still on it now. We are working slowly on adding dairy back into his diet.

Yes to both. DH had to go back 3 days after they were born, I went back 2.5 weeks after my c-section

Yes, It is the only time I can justify bump time as well

My baby is almost one but I'll answer.

How are from the NICU do you live? We were an hour away.  We stayed at the Ronald McDonald House while she was in the hospital.  It was 5 minutes away.

Do you have to pay for parking? No

Are you working? Is DH/SO? I was on maternity leave & found out shortly after her birth that I didn't have a job to go back to.  DH went back a week after she was born.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now? 28weeks.  She is 11 months and 4 days (8months 4days adjusted) now.

Are you BF or pumping at this time?  I pumped the whole NICU stay and for about 2 months after she came home.  I had a new onset seizure disorder & had to stop because of new medications.

My son is almost 10 months old now, but thought I would answer these for you regarding his stay:

How far away from the NICU do you live?  I lived 15-20 minutes)

Do you have to pay for parking?  Nope. We were able to take our ticket and get it valideated in NICU.  We had to move hospitals 3 days before he was released for a hernia surgery and at new hospital we had to pay.

Are you working? Is DH/SO?  I went back to work 3.5 weeks after son was born and worked for 7 weeks until he came home.  I went to hospital every day at lunch and then every evening.  This allowed me to be home with him for 8 weeks once he got home.  All of this was unpaid as I was 2 days short of getting STD.

How many gestational weeks was LO when born? How many weeks old is LO now?  Jack was 29 weeks and came home on his due date!

Are you BF or pumping at this time? I pumped for 9 long months.  Just quit in early Feb.
