DS FINALLY started sleeping through the night about 2 months ago. It has been BLISSFUL. The bliss has ended Just this week he is suddenly waking between 2-3am. At first, I was getting him and he wound up sleeping with us b/c I thought maybe he wasn't feeling well. But he has been totally fine during the day and taking decent naps etc.
Last night I decided he just needed to CIO b/c I thought we were starting to make it a habit of getting him up and into our bed. He cried off and on for an hour until DH (who requested that we let him CIO in the first place), begged me to go and get him Of course I don't WANT him to cry, but he's so tired during the day b/c he's not sleeping well at night.
Up until Dec, several of these nights in a row meant an ear infection. DS got tubes in Dec and soon after is when he started STTN. So now I'm lost! I have no idea what's going on or how to deal with it. DS1 co-slept until he was almost 2 so I didnt really go through this with him.
Sleep regression? how long does it usually last? Did you just deal and go with the flow or CIO? Usually it only has taken DS2 1 or 2 night of crying for about 20 minutes to get him back into a good sleep habit, but this week has me baffled
Re: Is there an 18 month sleep regression?
YES! omg yes. both kids went through it and it lasted a month or so. It seemed to coincide with a big language explosion, too.
but....it does pass...hang in there!
