decreased movement?

So my little man was kicking up a storm on Wednesday and the past few days he hasn't been that active. I can still feel him moving just not as much...is it similiar with you ladies? Or should I be worried?

Re: decreased movement?

  • I agree with the pp, when I'm really busy it's hard for me to tell.  Some days, like today, he's really busy and others it seems not as much.

  • I think my little guy and I are now on the same sleep cycle, so I notice him MUCH more than I did before. I used to just feel him in the evenings, but now it's ALL DAY long, and then seems to stop maybe an hour before I go to bed. I bet your LO is just sleeping and your schedules might not line up.

  • Have you been more active for the past couple of days? When you're up and about and moving around a lot, the swaying motion your hips make when you walk will lull your baby right to sleep! Also, baby is still small enough to be doing quite a bit of moving around without you even feeling it, especially depending on where he is positioned. Just like adults, babies (even in utero) have days where they have more/less energy.

My doctor told me not to be worried about inconsistent movement until about 28 weeks or so, so I'd say that you're most likely fine.

  •  I feel much less movement when I am off work then on my work days. I think it is because at work I am sitting at a desk for hours at a time with nothing better to do than feel the baby move. But on my days off I am active and busy and don't notice as much. I have also noticed that he has very active days and more inactive days.
  • I've had the same thing happen. I was feeling her kicks strong and hard, and now I still feel them frequently but they don't feel as strong. I was thinking maybe she's facing inward. Her HB at the dr was fine on Thurs so I'm trying not to worry :)

I am suddenly noticing sleep patterns. Maybe you were so busy you didn't realise LO was moving? I get that at work sometimes... I am so into a project, that it doesn't even phase me until I get a good jab. I wouldn't be too worried. :o)

    ditto!

  • I freaked out about a week ago for the same reason. The babies became far less active for a couple of days. I posted a similar post and was reassured that as long as you're feeling some movement each day, it's ok. Babies are human too and are sometimes tired or lazy! Sure enough, a few days later, they started kicking and punching up a storm!

All of the above. Baby is starting to create sleep cycles more and more too and just might be in a position at the moment wear the movement feels lighter. You will feel baby kicking up a storm again soon.
